The Beginning

I can't believe it January is almost over
I hope everyone stays warm and remember a beautiful day begins with a beautiful mind set,

The beginning is always today.

Christmas Greetings

Christmas Greeting From a Fairy To A Child

Lewis Carroll

Lady, dear, if Fairies may
For a moment lay aside
Cunning tricks and elfish play,
'Tis at happy Christmas-tide.
We have heard the children say -
Gentle children, whom we love -
Long ago on Christmas Day,
Came a message from above,
Still, as Christmas-tide comes round,
They remember it again -
Echo still the joyful sound
"Peace on earth, good-will to men!"
Yet the hearts must childlike be
Where such heavenly guests abide;
Unto children, in their glee,
All the year is Christmas-tide!
Thus, forgetting tricks and play
For a moment, Lady dear,
We would wish you, if we may,
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year!

That's so True
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Somehow not only for Christmas
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others
Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart's possessing
Returns to make you glad.
            John Greenleaf Whittier

                                     Ein Licht das leuchten will

Ein Licht, das leuchten will, muss sich verzehren;

es ist ja nichts, als nur ein Widerschein;
des ew'gen Lichtes Glanz darf es uns spenden,
ein Licht, das leuchten will für Gott allein.
Hedwig von Redem

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, male Reindeer shed their antlers at the beginning of winter , while females keep theirs until after giving birth to their young the following spring,
wish means - if logic is to dictate truth
THAT ALL OF SANTA'S REINDEERS MUST HAVE BEEN GIRLS.

Dreaming of the white Christmas?

The residents  of the following towns don't have to , for them is almost guaranteed
Wisconsin, Michigan,  Washington,  most of Alaska-especially he town of Beetles , which can get 10 inches or more !
In general the north is good bet for a white christmas.
Vermonts chance of snow on December 25 is  80 percent.
Virgina's however, is just 10 percent.

Well like Bing Crosby sings in the song White Christmas, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas doesn't necessarily mean we'll have snow...
it does stir memories even here in florida ;)

Please Think twice before giving pets as Christmas gifts !

Giving a pet as a gift is not a good idea unless the recipient is an adult, is part of the process and fully understands the commitment involved.

I like to get a handwritten card , who doesn't l ;)

The custom of sending Christmas cards was started in the  UK in 1843 by Sir Henry Cole. He was a civil servant (Government worker) who was very interested in the new 'Public Post Office' and wondered how it could be used more by ordinary people.
Sir Henry had the idea of Christmas Cards with his friend John Horsley, who was an artist. They designed the first card and sold them for 1 shilling each. (That is only 5p or 8 cents today(!), but in those days it was worth much much more.) The card had three panels. The outer two panels showed people caring for the poor and in the centre panel was a family having a large Christmas dinner! Some people didn't like the card because it showed a child being given a glass of wine! About 1000 (or it might have been less!) were printed and sold. They are now very rare and cost thousands of Pounds or Dollars to buy now!
Christmas Cards appeared in the United States of America in the late 1840s, but were very expensive and most people couldn't afford them. It 1875, Louis Prang, a printer who was originally from German but who had also worked on early cards in the UK, started mass producing cards so more people could afford to buy them. Mr Prang's first cards featured flowers, plants, and children. In 1915, John C. Hall and two of his brothers created Hallmark Cards, who are still one of the biggest card makers today!

It came without ribbons,
It came without tags,
It came without packages ,boxes ,or bags.
Christmas can't be bought from the store...
Maybe Christmas means a little bit more.

Did you know ;)
Candy canes began as straight white sugar-sticks
used to decorate Christmas trees.
It wasn't until the 20th century that the got their red stripes.
